Badge of Honour and the Power Of The Collective

Well done to all the writers and people behind the scenes who’ve helped to put together the latest Twisted 50.

These books are a great incentive for procrastinating writers, or is that just me?  to get our act together and sit down and write for a specific project.

Even for the writers who weren’t lucky enough to get into the finished book, it will still have been excellent practice and discipline to ‘push the envelope’ and stretch those writing muscles.   

That has to be a good thing for anyone who aspires to any creative activity.

i.e. Stop thinking about it, or reading about it, or dreaming about it.    

Just DO it.      

Even if you don’t hit the target at the time, it will often pay dividends further down the line, usually in ways you never thought of.

And for fifty of us who did ‘just do it,’ our reward is a Number One best seller. 

That is not to be sniffed at.

That impressive credit is something we can all put on our writers CV and in our biographies for the rest of our lives. 

I know. I had a story in the first Twisted 50 book that knocked Stephen King off the top of the Amazon Horror charts.

I’ve been bragging about that ever since.   It is included in any submission I send off to magazines or publishers.

It is a ‘Badge of Honour’ that adds some extra weight and kudos to our work.

So well done to the successful authors.  

To those who weren’t chosen this time, remember,  rewards may come in the future, in totally unexpected ways.  Hopefully we are all slightly better writers now than before as a result of this exercise. 

That is reward in itself.
