Let’s Make A Micro Twisted Horror Short!
13 October 2025 · 2 min read
Ok demented writers! We have an extra challenge for Twisted50!
We are collaborating with a couple of super talented horror short filmmakers to put together a series of micro horror films to help promote Twisted50.
Can you write one?
There’s no submission fee, no feedback, we are literally just looking for terrifying scripts to shoot.
Examples and ideas below but don’t limit yourself to these styles, feels and structure etc.
There are some limitations you must be aware of though.
First, we have ZERO budget.
Scripts will be chosen based on how doable they are within our resource and budget constraints, and how they can best represent and promote Twisted50.
These shorts will be filmed and edited in the style of analog horror.
Meaning handheld style films, featuring a maximum of two characters in one location.
VHS style interference will be edited over the footage to give a vintage, eerie feel to the films.
The camera itself will be operated by one or more of the characters, giving a first person point of view for the events of the film, and making the horror seem so much more personal.
Some film references for this style of horror film include “The Blair Witch Project”, “The Creep Tapes”, and “V/H/S”.
Scripts must be under two pages and we expect there to be some improv from the actors too.
We can use the back of Ealing Studios, corridors at night etc, which are dark and creepy and have a spooky ambience. But also parks and other public spaces.
Some references for shortform analog horror include “Greylock”, “The Monument Mythos”, and “The Mandela Catalogue”.
These films are all available on YouTube, and while they are comprised of multiple episodes that make up an overarching story, the individual short episodes work well as standalones as well.
For locations, as Halloween is coming up we will definitely make use of the decorations and ambience of this holiday to shoot at least one short. The corridors of Ealing studios can be another location as well, as they are dark and have a creepy ambience.
Keep it contained.
Keep it simple.
Keep it tense.
Scare us at the end.
